Nice work, once again. I really enjoy your style. A couple of questions that I was hoping you could answer if you get the time [if not, I definitely understand]: 1.) What exactly does digital inking entail? i.e., Do you just mess with the levels in photoshop, or is there a more complex technique you employ? 2.) What do you feel defines your style as a colorist, and sets your work apart from other colorists in the field? Keep up the good work, man. Can't wait to see more!

There is a couple different schools of thought about digital inking. In this case it was mostly adjusting the levels and spotting the blacks. Redoing some of the feathering. It's not a complete inking job, but it's what most consider digital inking. Then there is real digital inking like what Brian Bolland does on his pictures. He does everything on computer, so everything you see is digital. He's able to capture a tradional ink look.

I think my style is that I have no set style. I approach everything I work on differently. Things that may carry over is my color sense. Other than that I usually use different types of rendering methods on each project. Most colorists have one style that they pretty much force on every person they work with. Some cases it will work and some times it doesn't. The main advantage of having one style is that it becomes recognizeable regardless of who you are working on. So that's a drawback in my case. People probably have seen my work and didn't realize it was me coloring it. For example my "Runaways" work compared to "Books of Doom". Two completely different styles.

hmmm...spotting blacks...That's pretty similar to what I do with my own pages, but somehow it never turns out as clean. I'm going to have to check out Mr. Bolland's work, as well [I've been away from comics for awhile now :(]. That sounds pretty interesting. As for switching your style up to fit the story, I think that's quite clever and will keep you employed for a long time to come (but then again, that's the general idea, right?), although personally I would try to master one style, stick with it, and just apply it differently for whatever assignment I was put on. That way I maintain consistency in style and variance in application, leaving my signature while still leaving the story intact...but coloring isn't really my thing. I think I enjoy drawing more. Too bad I'm not that good at it...:) Anyway, I've got a million questions, but I'll quit wasting your time for now. Thanks for answering my questions, and I'll def. keep following your work!
